MacBook Air? More like MacBook Fail.
Those of you who know me have undoubtedly heard my rantings on this flawed product.
I’m not in a ranting mood per say, so I’ll simply list my main gripes with the new ultra-thin laptop:
1) Thin, not portable.
The Air is thin, I’m not denying that. But my issue here is that it’s only thin. It’s not a UMPC in any way, though it sacrifices features and power like a UMPC does.
2) No optical drive.
How does Apple expect to sell these to the professional crowd without an optical drive at all? Bye, all chance of video editors buying
3) One USB port.
ONE port. ONE! How is the damn thing still portable, when you have to lug around a USB hub, optical drive, and mouse all the time?
4) Single mouse button.
How hard is it to put a freakin’ right mouse button on the trackpad? Control-clicking is extremely annoying, not to mention that it doesn’t work in Windows or Linux.
5) Price tag.
Continuing with the Apple business model of gouging now and worrying later, the Air starts at a ridiculous $1799 - more than twice what a usable Windows UMPC would cost you.
In conclusion, I would never buy one. Kudos to not Apple.
2 commentsBlog online!
As you can see, the site has been replaced by this fancy new WordPress blog.
I’ve decided to take a break from music for a while; there’s a lot going on at C9 right now and I’m devoting all my energy to getting some new services online (Game server hosting, for instance) as well as developing many of our long-overdue projects - CloudBoard, for instance.
I’m not quitting permanently. I’ll probably pick music back up again, sometime in the future. But for now, I’m taking a break - don’t expect to see anything before 2009.
Welcome to the blog. I’m aware that most people won’t read or care about this; it’s as much a record for me as it is a look into my life for everyone else. I don’t really have much to say at the moment, I’m still configuring this fresh install. I’ll post later.
