PPC32 Linux
I was talking to Linus the other day, and we’ve both agreed that maintaining the kernal for 32-bit PowerPC seeems to be a mood point right now (how many *nix users do you know n G4s?) - we’ll be keeping PPC64 for G5 and/or PS3, but as of the 3.0 kernal (maybe 3.2), we’ll be dropping PPC32.
In other news, I’ve been in talks with Jelsoft about licensing their plugin system - I’d like users
of CloudBoard to be able to use vBulletin stuff in the same way; ie vB plugins. I think they’ll like
the idea, honestly, because even though clients are using a competing board, they can still earn
some cash from vB Blog, etc.
Anyway, that’s all for now - musics aer in teh wurkz.

Five New Songs!
Right, here you go, as promised, some new stuff. Five songs this time - two originals, and three covers; I decided to re-cover some of my more popular VG remixes in experimental styles.
ORIGINAL
Destination Emptiness - A trance, futuristic song I was inspired to write while playing Locomotion.
Destination Epic - Not sure about this one. I’ve been playing Audiosurf, and wanted to make something epic.
RE-COVERS
Ice Cap from Sonic
Overworld from Zelda
Flying Battery from Sonic
You’ll find them all at http://cloud9nine.com/blogrel. Enjoy, and please do not distribute, simply link people here instead. I need the traffic!

Codeblocks Contest!
I’m opening a contest to end March 1st.
Put together the best single-file original code you can, whether it be for business, comedy, or whatever you feel like. Just save it with a title name of “Contest Myname”. At the end, the five entries with the most pageviews will be thrown in a vote, and the winner will receive a year’s free hosting - full developer addons included - at CloudNine.

Garry’s Mod servers no longer to be offered
After the latest update to Garry’s Mod, the dedicated server binaries for Linux and Windows are pretty much broken beyond repair. They use literally 30-40% CPU with no objects spawned and no players connected, and in order to spawn content from CSS and Orange Box require a literal 4GB of diskspace per server - HLDS doesn’t seem to work with symlinks, so we can’t save any space that way.
So, unfortunately, we’re no longer going to offer Gmod servers. CSS, TF2, and other Source-based games will still be offered.

Forum?
Should I put a small forum online for Codeblocks discussion and linking to files?
What do you think? Good idea?
Please comment.

Codeblocks beta is here!
A beta version of Codeblocks is now live. You can access Codeblocks by clicking the link in the way top right. It is a functionality build, not a design build - it’s fairly simplistic HTML right now, nothing fancy - but the code editor is working, along with collaborative editing and file storage. Aesthetic design is the last entry on a long list of priorities.
Additionally, a few people looking to take advantage of the work in progress build found it funny to spam the script with “Sparky is Gay” files, etc. I’m forewarning everyone now that any misusers of the script will be reported to their ISP, as the spammer mentioned above already has. This may seem like an idle threat, but kindly be reminded that as a web host, almost all ISPs take our complaints very seriously, and we have had about 20 people disconnected due to previous abuse.
On a lighter side of things, I’ll be adding syntax highlighting for C++, ColdFusion and LUA sometime this week. PHP and JavaScript debugging are also on the way. Please post comments with any suggestions you may have!

CodeBlocks coming soon!
I had a great idea for a way to extend this site and make it useful.
I’m announcing the “Codeblocks” feature today, to be availible as early as next week.
Here’s how it works:
By visiting the “Codeblocks” section of this site, you can type or copy/paste code in a variety of languages into an online, syntax-highlighting editor, and save it to a file on the server. (No code will be executable on the server, so don’t even bother trying to exploit.) Anyone else can then load your file, view it, and edit it. (You’ll need a password to save edits, so only people you give that password to can change your original file.)
What do you think? Would you use a feature like this?

MacBook Air? More like MacBook Fail.
Those of you who know me have undoubtedly heard my rantings on this flawed product.
I’m not in a ranting mood per say, so I’ll simply list my main gripes with the new ultra-thin laptop:
1) Thin, not portable.
The Air is thin, I’m not denying that. But my issue here is that it’s only thin. It’s not a UMPC in any way, though it sacrifices features and power like a UMPC does.
2) No optical drive.
How does Apple expect to sell these to the professional crowd without an optical drive at all? Bye, all chance of video editors buying
3) One USB port.
ONE port. ONE! How is the damn thing still portable, when you have to lug around a USB hub, optical drive, and mouse all the time?
4) Single mouse button.
How hard is it to put a freakin’ right mouse button on the trackpad? Control-clicking is extremely annoying, not to mention that it doesn’t work in Windows or Linux.
5) Price tag.
Continuing with the Apple business model of gouging now and worrying later, the Air starts at a ridiculous $1799 - more than twice what a usable Windows UMPC would cost you.
In conclusion, I would never buy one. Kudos to not Apple.
